Rock 'n' roll legend, Dolores « La La  » Brooks, member of The Crystals, offers an exceptional stage interpretation of the girl group era. She joined The Crystals at the age of 13 for the album Twist Uptown in 1962, then, at just 15, she provided lead vocals on two of the biggest hits from Phil Spector's famous « Wall of Sound  »: Then He Kissed Me and Da Doo Ron Ron. This typically American and resolutely modern sound had a major influence on artists such as The Beatles and The Beach Boys, not to mention Bruce Springsteen and The Ramones. Subsequently, Brooks participated in the rare demos recorded by Galt McDermott for the musical Hair, before joining the original Broadway cast in 1968. She recorded occasionally with her husband, Idris Muhammad, until the mid-1970s, then spent several decades in London and Vienna with their family. She returned to live in New York in 2000 and released her album All Or Nothing in 2011 on Norton Records, produced by Mick Collins of The Dirtbombs. Her current band is led by Jeremy Chatzky, who spent 25 years in Ronnie Spector's orchestra, and their performance is distinguished by its raw yet meticulously crafted character. La La is currently recording new tracks at The Diamond Mine studio in New York.
