Clayton Stephenson - Piano

A pianist who graduated from the Juilliard School and the New England Conservatory, Clayton Stephenson became the first Black finalist in the legendary Van Cliburn competition in 2022. A true multidisciplinary prodigy, he makes his Parisian debut with a programme that reflects his image: intelligent, audacious, monumental. Bach-Busoni's famous Chaconne introduces the Spanish folk landscapes of Albéniz's first book of Iberia. Rhythm is also a cornerstone in the writing of Prokofiev's Sonata No. 7, one of the Soviet composer's three 'War Sonatas'. The Debussy-esque jazz of Bill Evans and Hiromi Uehara concludes this recital, blurring the lines between genres.
